I’m Heather Sparks, a Senior UX/UI and Product Designer with over 12 years of experience designing complex digital products for enterprise, government, and regulated environments. I specialize in translating complex requirements into intuitive, accessible, and scalable user experiences that balance user needs, business goals, and technical constraints.
Throughout my career, I’ve led end-to-end design efforts from discovery and user research to wireframes, high-fidelity UI, usability testing, and developer handoff. I’ve partnered closely with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to modernize legacy systems, streamline workflows, and deliver secure, compliant solutions used by both internal teams and external audiences.
My background includes work with U.S. Department of Transportation agencies, including NHTSA, where I supported enterprise and public-facing platforms within federal guidelines. I’m comfortable navigating evolving requirements, aligning cross-functional teams, and designing systems that meet accessibility, security, and regulatory standards.
I take a research-driven, systems-thinking approach to design, grounding my work in a deep understanding of user needs and complex workflows. I regularly conduct user interviews, usability testing, and workflow analysis, translating insights into clear, actionable design decisions. I also use AI as a supporting tool for research synthesis, ideation, and content refinement, while ensuring all final decisions remain rooted in human-centered design principles.
At my core, I’m passionate about creating thoughtful, user-centered products that make complex systems easier to use and more impactful. I enjoy solving meaningful problems, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and continuously evolving my craft as a designer.
